I mentioned in another post about how I accidentally threw harlow in the trash, among the wilted morning vegetable toss. In my defence, newly awoke ,I had not even gotten out of bed really, with no NO COFFEE at all. Trying to be a good snail lady, first thing I did was stand up, walk to the the snails & remove last nites meal.
Having just discovered the 1st fruit fly about 3 days before, I had decided NOT to leave food in there more than 1 day & to become dedicated to removing food during the day. ( they sleep the day unless I wake them up anyway, so why leave it ( the food ) in there ??? ) I am determined not to have a swarm of those nasty gnats in my bedroom this summer!
Back to the story... I piled up the leftovers and walked towards the kitchen, dropped it in the bin and went ahead with the morning routine, Coffee, walk the dogs, etc etc. As the day quickly progressed we decided to goto IKEA ( to get a mini greenhouse for to trying and keep the Isabella twins in. Also my plan was to pick up a humidity checker from the hardware store. ( cheaper than buying thru a reptil shop )
We returned home, put the kettle on & after pouring a cup of tea go to check the snails ( I am still figuring how to keep humidity correctly ) & notice NO HARLEAN! I sift thru the substrate 3 times. Nothing. She is nowhere to be found. I almost cried, seriously, but I said to myself she has to be here someplace! Then my brain kicks in.. THE TRASH!!! NOOOO!
Yes, there she was, hiding in between strips of a banana peel she had slimed her way to. After a little warm water wash, in case anything else " trashy "had gotten onto her had touched her and then some time in my warm hand, she woke up. She is fine! Happily reunited with Harlow.
